About Reverend Casey Tinnin
Rev. Casey Brian Tinnin started November 14th 2016 as the Pastor of Loomis Basin Congregational Church United Church of Christ. Rev. Tinnin is passionate about being an example of progressive Christianity in the western Placer County area. He states, “My role as pastor… is to empower people to take on the task of following Jesus, to be the hands, feet, and voice of God in the world.”
Rev. Tinnin was born and raised in the Manteca area, received a B.A. from Trinity Lutheran College in Everett, Washington, a Master’s in Theological Studies from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary and graduated from the Pacific School of Religion with a Master’s of Divinity in 2013. He was ordained in 2014 as a United Church of Christ Minister.
Rev. Tinnin’s broad experience includes teaching English in Bangalore, India, ministering to AIDS patients, community organizing for People Improving Communities through Organizing (PICO), and serving as a Youth Minister in United Church of Christ, ELCA Lutheran and Presbyterian Churches. As a twenty-first century pastor, Rev. Tinnin likes to be out and about, visiting the home-bound, meeting with youth, having coffee with people in the community, and finding out where help is needed.
Rev. Casey Tinnin and his partner Jose Martinez enjoy traveling, cooking, and hosting friends, family, and congregants in their home. Rev. Casey Tinnin and Jose look forward to meeting new members into the congregation, and are excited about serving alongside the people of the Loomis Basin Congregational United Church of Christ.
